The piano pieces, all of them, show the lushness of aromas, colors, and reflections of prodigal lands in the production of artistic sensations. One could speak of landscapes in which the human element is present; the voice of a folk tradition which longs to express its most intimate essence, not in an illustrative but in an evocative sense. They embody a perfect communion between the performer, the music, and the context, governed by its aesthetic values that connect with the principles of reason, logos, and intelligence. The first cultural theme of nationhood is the idea of community reflected through shared memory and values, and, in this project by pianist Juan Carlos Fernández-Nieto they find their musical testimony.

JC Fernández-Nieto

Undisputedly one of the most exceptional pianists of his generation, acclaimed for his superb sound and technique and a swiftly rising star on the international stage. Heralded as “a firework on the 88 piano keys” (Westdeutsche Allgemeine Zeitung); “a pianist that offers a pianism that is “rare” … A revelation!” (Musique classique & Co), and “Everything is transparent, neatly executed» (Gramophone UK).

Spanish-American pianist Juan Carlos Fernández-Nieto’s international career is rapidly flourishing after he stepped in last minute performing Mozart’s Piano Concerto Jeunehomme at Carnegie Hall with The Chamber Orchestra of New York, which resulted in a standing ovation and immediate reengagements.

Now a regular performer in Spain, United States of America, and major cities worldwide, Juan Carlos Fernández-Nieto made his debut at the age of sixteen with Orquesta Ciudad de Granada performing Mozart’s Piano Concerto in d minor under the baton of Lutz Köhler to critical acclaim in a live broadcast on Radio Nacional de España.

Juan Carlos Fernández-Nieto was born in Salamanca, Spain. Days after his birth, the family relocated to Figueres in Catalonia, where he spent his first years of life. After his family moved to Valladolid, he started to show interest in music, and began studying piano and violin at the age of four. Growing up in different regions of Spain and his later immigration to the United States have enriched his musical personality and his unique performance style, which is known to be a combination of passion, soulfulness, and virtuosity.

Recent and forthcoming highlights include major international performances at Klavier-Festival Ruhr, Carnegie Hall, Teatro Colón, Auditorio Monumental, St. James Picadilly, Auditorio Manuel de Falla, Fundación Juan March among others. In concerto the upcoming season sees Juan Carlos Fernández-Nieto as a soloist with orchestras in Spain and USA, as well as appearances with the St. Lawrence String Quartet featuring the premiere of a new work by Juanjo Colomer in Spain. He will also make his debut as a soloist-conductor with the Orquesta de Cámara de Canarias.

In March 2022 Juan Carlos Fernández-Nieto will release his new album “Iberian Dances”, recorded with the IBS Classical label, which will include works by Balakirev, Lyapunov, Albéniz and Machavariani. Juan Carlos will be the first Spanish pianist ever to record “Islamey”, the virtuoso tour-de-force by Milij Balakirev. Previous recordings included: «Vive la France!”, recorded live at Klavier Festival-Ruhr on the CAvi-music label; and his debut album “Carnaval”, a monographic on Schumann, that featured both his carnavals, recorded on Odradek Records
